We are currrently studying the novel 'Of Mice and Men' by John Steinbeck for the English Literature exam in Summer 2011.
The two exam questions on 'Of Mice and Men' are worth 30% of the English Literature grade.

English Exam 2011

English Exams:

Paper 1: (30%) 2 hour exam
Section A of Paper 1: (15%). This requires students to read and demonstrate their understanding of an unseen prose passage from the English Literary Heritage
Section B of Paper 1: (15%). This requires students to complete two writing tasks.
One to inform/explain/describe (7%)
One to explore/imagine/entertain (7%)

Paper 2: (30%) 2 hour exam.
Section A of Paper 2: (15%). This requires students to read and show their understanding of non-fiction and media texts.
Section B of Paper 2: (15%). This requires students to complete two writing tasks.
One to argue/persuade/advise
One to analyse/review/comment

English Literature Exam 2011

English Literature Exam: (70%) 2 hours 30 minutes

Section A: (30%). Of Mice and Men
Pupils have to analyse an extract from the novel 'Of Mice and Men' (10 marks)
Pupils then complete an essay question on the text (20 marks)

Section B: (30%). Blood Brothers.
Pupils have to analyse an extract from the play 'Blood Brothers' (10 marks)
Pupils then complete an essay question on the play (20 marks)

Section C: (10%) Unseen Poetry
Pupils are required to respond to an unseen poem (10 marks)
